Nikon AF-S 18-35mm f.3.5-4.5G Review

Nikon AF-S 18-35mm f.3.5-4.5G Review by Alan Trammel

RECOMMENDED

Super compact and light weight for an FX wide angle lens, this lens a joy to handle.   To achieve its light weight it is made of plastic and I am not sure if it would survive a drop.

Autofocus is quite reliable, although not as accurate as a pro-level f/2.8 in low light.  Pictures from this lens are exceptionally sharp.  Mount it on a DX lens and the pictures get even sharper.  The smaller DX sensor makes any corner softness invisible.  Color rendition is good but falls a little short of the color “pop” and richness that I like.

As a bargain lens with a lot of value, I was really surprised (in a very positive way) with the pictures this lens produces.  The lens is really like this review, short and sweet.
