Review: Nikon AF-S 35mm f/1.8G AF-S DX Lens

Nikon AF-S 35mm f/1.8G AF-S DX Lens Review by Alan Trammel

If you have a Nikon DX camera you need this lens, plain and simple.   With a 52mm effective focal length this is essentially the “nifty-fifty” for DX cameras.  It’s inexpensive, compact and produces crisp images.    The 1.8 aperture makes it a GREAT low light performer and it produces nice bokeh.

This lens pairs so well on DX camera bodies it’s probably the perfect walk around lens.  You can shoot this lens in a city, day or night and never get bored.  Going on a family vacation?  A DX body and this lens is all you need.

The only real negative for this lens is it’s propensity for chromatic aberration (purple/green fringing around things).  Since this can be easily corrected in post processing this flaw should be overlooked.

For just under $200 this lens is an incredible value!
